I competed in a data visualization competition hosted by the O’Reilly Strata conference around the topic of food: what we eat, and why?
Competition entries were required to use datasets from foodfacts.com. For 125 randomly selected food products one would see in a grocery store we were provided the detailed ingredient list and nutritional information one would see on the packaging.
For my entry I created an interactive graphic that let one explore this data through the lens of diet: if these products were your primary diet, what would your nutritional intake be? What if your diet was restricted in some way?
My entry won Best in Show!
